So my first day on this adventure had me talking to the pest control guy after Steve saw a furry creature run across the kitchen yesterday. (Thank the Lord I was at brunch with my friend, Nathalie, and missed the show!)
He looks around the attic and only sees “normal mouse scurrying areas.” Excuse me but what in the world is NORMAL about mice bedding and scurrying around in my attic!? He assured me that it was OK and nothing to be concerned about. Bu, then he mentioned how I might want to invest in monthly pest and bug control. And how snakes follow the mice and rodents. I looked at the guy and said, “You had me at snakes. I am deathly afraid of snakes. Where do I sign?”
Next he crawls under the house to investigate. He comes back into the house to tell me that rats and possums have been under the house. And that they chewed into the insulation. While he’s talking, all I can see is the Allstate guy with his raccoon eyes throwing around insulation. This has been going on under my house. A rat and possum party under my house. I swear I clean my house. I really do but you’ve got to be kidding me. Rats AND possums.
So the next step is to “set some traps” and rid myself of them. ($349 of course) And, to then invest in the monthly plan so they don’t come back. And oh yeah, call the HVAC guy to come out and plug the holes and tell me how much to get my insulation back to normal.
Did I even mention today is Steve’s 50th birthday? Happy birthday, honey! We’ve got rats and possums.
Yay! I love that you wrote this. Cheers to your new adventure, possums and all!. I can’t wait to read more.
